For its debut exhibition, Stride presented a group show featuring artists from all over the world, including Peter Andrew Jeschke, Chu Okoli, Kerstin A. Roolfs, Dominick Anthony DeJesus, Kate Thomas, John Shorb, Novorozhkin, Nancy Langer, Xiuping Liu, and Jingxing Yan. A live paper-cutting piece was made by Xin Song and a number of porcelain and painted works were included by Xiangdong Chen, whose work will be the subject of a solo exhibition at the gallery in June. 

 

The Grand Opening was well attended by members of the arts industry as well as local government officials. NY City Council Member Keith Powers welcomed guests, followed by a brief introduction of the gallery’s mission by Angel Zhang, founder. NY City Council Member Ben Kallos and Deputy Chief Diversity Officer of NY State, Linda Sun, spoke briefly and presented Stride with Governor Cuomo’s Certificate commemorating the business. Speakers included Xi Qing Li, New York Congresswoman Grace Meng, notable investor Roger Samet, Tony Wang, Chairman of WAC Lighting Company, and Taining Gan, Chairman of the GLOW Foundation. Other guests included Jean Shafiroff, Lucia Hwong Gordon, Libbie Mugrabi, Peter Thomas Roth, Anthoula Katsimatides, Janel Tanna, Jeff Lima, Michele Peacock and Tatum Summer.

Angel Zhang is an entrepreneur, investor, and longtime supporter of emerging artists. Zhang founded and serves as the CEO of a commercial, industrial, and digital printing and manufacturing company that has offices throughout China and internationally. She is a prolific collector and an investor in several galleries in China, where she has worked closely with Chinese artists to establish their careers. Zhang moved to New York more than a decade ago to focus on growing her businesses in the West and now splits her time between her homes in Manhattan and Long Island.
